Small Pearl-bordered Fritillary Boloria selene ([Denis & Schiffermüller])

Widespread throughout the west with scattered colonies elsewhere. Absent from Ireland.

Woodlands, damp grassland, moorland and coastal cliffs.

Common Dog-violet and Marsh Violet.

Usually mid-May to late June. Earlier in the south and later in the north.
