Grayling Hipparchia semele (Linn.)

Widespread, but mainly coastal, throughout.

Dunes, saltmarsh and clifftops. Inland on heaths grassland and derelict brown-field sites.

Various grasses.

Usually early July to late August. Early June to mid-July on the Great Orme.
